In 2016 BMW will be celebrating century by launching the plug-in hybrid modeled supercar as recent reports. BMW can nickname it as i9 in which the company already registered its trademark in 2012 itself. The flagship with ‘i’ brand can be spiritual successor to their iconic M1 sports car. BMW has showcased its M1 homepage concept in the year 2008 by celebrating M1 30th anniversary. Since then there was on and off speculation about the production of car but BMW since then sought out the future proofing of its mainstream models launched in UKL Platform for models of entry level and introduced two vehicles in’ i’ brand. According to the added reports i9 will be equipped with 6 cylinder engine of petrol coupled with electric motor which is more powerful than BMW i8. It combined output may exceed current model i8’s figure that gives 362bhp power and torque of 570Nm. Heavier petrol engine in i9 with additional 3-cylinders and bigger motor can increase the car weight compared to i8 which weights 1490kg. Still i9 will achieve 50 to 50 weight distributions by using the carbon fiber and reinforced plastic in construction of car as learned from publications.
